International Consortium to Develop 'Intelligent' Electric Vehicles Powered by Wind Energy

By racerbynite - Posted on 16 March 2009

The EDISON (Electric Vehicles in a Distributed and Integrated Market using Sustainable Energy and Open Networks) research consortium will seek to match power generation from wind turbines on the island of Bornholm, Denmark, with the power consumption of charging plug-in electric cars. Electric vehicles could be charged at times when wind energy is high and power consumption is low thanks to an infrastructure with intelligent charging facilities that can communicate with the power system to agree on a time for charging. The EDISON project includes IBM, Siemens, Dong Energy, the Danish Energy Association and Energinet.dk among others.
